Within walking distance to the beach, Coogee Synagogue welcomes all to 'the great little central synagogue by the sea' - founded on our current site in 1960 by a group of Holocaust survivors who left the devastation of post war Europe to seek a new beginning in Australia.
At the time there were large number of young Jewish families living close by who banded together to form the nidus of what Coogee Synagogue was to become.
They had over the previous 8 years created a small Kehillah who worshipped together in a local garage using a Sefer Torah borrowed from The Great Synagogue. The community grew from there, purchased the land and have currently been through three renovations to finally arrive at the current beautiful modern building we enjoy today.
We have a membership of over 300 people, and a vibrant community famous for our warm welcome and hospitality. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you.

Friday Nights - "L'Chaim Club"
Come enjoy a whisky with friends with our L'chaim Club followed by Kabbalat Shabbat service.
The first Friday of every month is our Gourmet Whisky L'chaim Club where we bring out the premium whiskies.
Saturday Mornings
Weekly Torah reading followed by Kiddush.
On the Shabbat prior to Rosh Chodesh come share our Shabbat Mevarchim Lunch, a time to bless the new month. Receive a special Birthday blessing on your birthday month and a blessing for your endeavours to come.
Sunday Morning - "Tefillin Club"
Join us on the First Sunday of every month for morning prayers followed by a fantastic bagel breakfast with the Rabbi.
